Your talent is speaking - are you listening?
The secret language you didn’t know you speak - talent. And yes, you have it!
Talent is a natural aptitude—something we’re born with. Some describe it as a gift that exists apart from effort. But does that mean some have talent and others don’t? Yes and no. Everyone has a talent, but talents vary. Some excel in sports, others in the arts or sciences.
But what is talent?
If it’s innate, how did it get there? Where did it come from?
I believe we’re created by God, the eternal God of the Bible. He gives us talents through natural inheritance, expecting us to use them, and He blesses the work of our hands.
But why?
Let’s think about how people use their talents. Some are skilled in sports, others in music, math, art, or intelligence. I believe our talents are given as tools for communication.
A talented writer conveys ideas through stories.
A musician shares emotions through melodies.
A chef communicates through flavors,
And a painter through their brushstrokes.
Personally, I would love to write a great book or deliver an inspiring speech. But when I try, I often stumble. Sure, I could learn and practice, but it wouldn't match the work of someone truly gifted in writing.
When I have something to say, I don’t turn to words; I run to my studio and create with my hands. One painting, for me, speaks a novel’s worth.

The deep fulfillment I feel after finishing a piece of art isn’t pride in the work; it’s the satisfaction of having communicated something inside me to the world.
That’s what true communication is.
My most powerful form of expression is through visual art, and for some, that’s the best way to receive my message. Others may connect through watching an athlete, listening to a poet, or witnessing a mathematician solve a complex problem.
We all speak in unique languages, allowing those who understand us to hear the messages we’re meant to give.
Think of it this way: I can speak a little Spanish, French, or Swahili, but if I want to tell my story, I use English. Only those who speak English will fully understand me. Similarly, our talents are the languages through which we speak, and they’re important—not just for connecting with others, but for communicating with God Himself.
I often find my words come out wrong, and it’s easy to be misunderstood (as evidenced by how hard it is to write this in fewer than 5,000 words!). Words can be tricky.
But when I want to tell a story, I make art.
When I want to show how much my family means to me, I make art.
When I want to honor and praise God, I make art.
When I want to tell the world who God is, I make art.
My innate ability in visual arts is my most treasured possession. It allows me to speak like Billy Graham, sing like Carrie Underwood, and write like C.S. Lewis—all without saying a word.
You have an innate ability too.
Since you’re here, it’s likely in the visual arts, just like mine. So, what are you going to do with it?
Stay Bold,

PS. This painting contains a piece of the legacy my grandmother left for our family. It's called 'A Thousand Generations' and is make from Acrylic and Thread.
